The Downtown Family YMCA opened its doors in 1964 and has since been a landmark in the Downtown Boise area.
The facility has a full court basketball gym, a large cardio fitness center, multiple strength training systems and rooms, racquetball courts, a climbing wall, five fitness studios, three swimming pools, and multiple youth programming areas.
The *Personal Trainer *promotes individual and community health and wellbeing through direct engagement on the Wellness Floor by creating opportunities for personal training involvement.
*Responsibilities:*
* Develop intentional relationships and, using the Y voice attributes, engage members to deepen their relationship to the Y Cause.
* Actively use Listen First skills to determine realistic and appropriate goals that improve the health and wellbeing of participants.
* Actively identify and offer additional support to members who may require help, such as health seekers, new members, and members with diverse abilities.
* Interact with members resulting in enrollment in Y programs (PT, challenges, fun runs, etc.
) that help them achieve the two Cause Measurement goals.
* Conduct personal training sessions in an inclusive, fun, innovative, and safe manner with the scope of practice that results in participants achieving the two Cause Measurement goals.
*Qualifications:*
* Experience in related field.
* Must be able to engage others in conversation and make all people feel welcome.
* Ability to respond calmly and quickly to safety and emergency situations.
* Must have good interpersonal and communications skills and be sensitive, adaptable, professional, and articulate when dealing with others.
* Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
* Personal Trainer Certification (ACE, NASM, ACSM, NETA, NSCA, ISASA or NFPT).
Prerequisite upon hire.
* CPR/AED.
Prerequisite upon hire – 14 day compliance period.
*Schedule:*
This is a full-time position at 30 hours weekly; 20 - 25 hours a week of classes, personal training, and chronic disease prevention and 5-10 hours a week of member engagement.
