As such, we are looking for mission-focused, highly productive team members who are collegial, collaborative, and excited about the opportunity to build a new type of school.
What We Are Looking For Because we are growing, we have a list of emerging priorities.
As such, we invite applications for two faculty positions (1) an assistant professor (tenure/tenure-track), and (2) an open rank professor, I.
e.
assistant, associate, or full (tenure/tenure-track) who are equally invested in research and teaching both undergraduate and graduate students.
To that end, we are most interested in candidates who offer one or more of the following: Candidates with clinical training and experience who can serve students in a Health Sciences program designed to prepare students for medical school and other clinical professional programs.
Candidates with academic training and/or practical experience who can teach across programs in our interdisciplinary core in at least one of the following areas: (a) understanding and eliminating health disparities, including rural health disparities, (b) public health approaches to promoting mental health, or (c) nutrition.
Candidates with academic training and practical experience in health management/leadership, especially in public health and non-profit health promoting organizations, who will serve students in our MPH/PhD programs.
Candidates with strong research programs in Environmental/Occupational Health or Health Across the Lifespan to complement our emerging critical mass of research and teaching capacity in those areas.
For example, candidates with research and practice experience associated with protecting the health of agricultural workers/people living in agricultural communities or promoting healthy aging among older populations.
In addition to exceptional experience and commitment to one of the areas above, the strongest candidates will also possess at least one of the secondary qualifications listed below: Practical experience working directly with communities using respectful, community engaged approaches that reflect the hopes and priorities of the communities being served while adhering to the highest professional values associated with public and clinical health.
Practical experience focused on implementing universal, primary prevention approaches at the community, regional, and/or state levels, including the effective use of health communication.
Strong background applying technology in public health settings such as using data visualization, artificial intelligence, machine learning, social media, app development, geographical information systems, etc.
These nine-month, tenure track positions will be working primarily at the Boise State University campus teaching live courses.
Some evenings/weekends may be included, depending on assigned workload.
Minimum Qualifications: A relevant terminal degree in Public Health or related field or a related clinical/professional degree.
A defined research agenda and evidence of a scholarly record or evidence of potential for developing a clear research agenda and sustained publication record.
A record of effectively using quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods data and analytical skills to support your research agenda.
Preferred Qualifications: Undergraduate or graduate level teaching experience.
Live teaching experience and a dedication to teaching in person.
Online and/or hybrid teaching experience may also be helpful.
Proficient in R and Excel/Google Sheets.
Essential Job Functions: Provide effective instruction and mentoring to students.
Conduct research, publish peer-reviewed articles, give peer-reviewed professional presentations, and disseminate/translate findings to the community at large.
Participate in service at the university, within the profession, and in the community.
Create a welcoming environment for diverse students by demonstrating cultural competency and a commitment to inclusion.
Develop and maintain collegial working relationships with others.
Participate in curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation of educational programs.
Apply appropriate policies and regulations within the university, college, and school.
Participate in activities promoting personal and professional growth.
Salary and Benefits: For the open rank position, salary ranges from $65,000 to $110,000 for a nine-month contract depending on the rank assigned.
For the assistant professor position, salary ranges from $65,000 to $75,000 for a nine-month position.
