Position overview:
The Department of Theatre, Film and Creative Writing invites interested candidates to apply for a Visiting Clinical Faculty position in Lighting Design and Technology for the ‘24-’25 academic year.
This position is responsible for teaching 4 courses throughout the academic year, along with the lighting design and support of 4 main stage university productions.
The contract spans 9 months with the option to renew, starting on August 14th, 2024.
Successful candidates will demonstrate strong knowledge of current design techniques and technologies, and collaborate on a variety of creative projects within the program.
The candidate will provide hands-on support for productions and mentor a broad range of developing professionals with diverse identities and experiences, promoting inclusivity and the expansion of students’ understanding of their craft, culture, and community.
We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position.

Minimum qualifications:
BA in Theatre Design plus at least 2 years of professional experience OR MFA in related field
Experience teaching practical aspects of lighting design
Professional design experience in one or more of the following areas: lighting, video/projection design, sound, and stage management
Proficiency in relevant design software including two or more of the following: Vectorworks, Lightwright, EOS programming and/or Qlab
Preferred qualifications:
MFA in Lighting Design
Additional experience in Sound and/or Projection Design
Experience in designing educational productions and mentoring student designers
Background with student and faculty-directed projects
Ability to teach classes outside of Design and Technology curriculum appreciated
