*Job Title:* 4-H PYD Youth Instructor
*Job Summary: *
As a 4-H PYD Youth Instructor for Boise Urban Garden School (BUGS), you will facilitate, lead, and instruct students in hands-on STEAM activities and education programming with a specific focus on science, conservation, sustainability, health, garden and environmental education.
Assists program lead and staff in coordinating and preparing supplies for age-appropriate activities.
Work is performed primarily in an outdoor class setting.
You will be responsible for interacting with the public and co-workers in a friendly and professional manner as well as data collection, community outreach, and networking.
This is a 4-month position where you will commit an average of 28 hours weekly to service.
*Service Term:* May 13th- August 31st (end date is flexible with back-to-school schedules)
*Key Responsibilities:*
* Lead STEAM-based summer camps at ¾ acre garden site
* Assist with garden and culinary camps focused on health, nutrition and sustainability
* Lead on-site environmental education field trips
* Assist with special events
* Provide a rich learning experience for campers focusing on STEAM topics such as gardening, soil health, sustainability, insects and pollinators, garden to table culinary skills, harvesting and tasting, and health and nutrition
* Collect data, conduct community outreach, and network with community partners
* Expand your experience in education curriculum development, education presentation, and other professional skills
* Spend 60% of your time in front of students teaching
* Prepare and practice lessons
*Requirements:*
* 17 years or older
* U.
S.
citizen, or U.
S.
national lawful permanent resident
* Able to clear the National Service Criminal History Checks
* Willing to travel, must have a valid driver's license
* Self-motivated and able to work independently
*Schedule:*
* 8:30am-4:30pm
* Monday-Friday
* 2-3 Saturdays
*Benefits:*
* Member Living Allowance of $6,000.
00 paid in allotments of $750.
00 every two weeks

35 upon successful completion of the service term

* Hands-on experience developing and delivering educational curriculum
