Position Overview This is a skilled position that will require the individual to train new employees and refresh current employees on the most current safe operation of a CMV as per company policies.
The individual must have a good understanding of construction, paving, material delivery, and of company standards and policies.
This position will report to the Plant Supervisor or the area Truck Foreman and is limited to current Idaho Materials employees.
The Mentor will be the liaison between the employees and management, and a champion for the employees to voice their opinion to management.
The incumbent in this position will be an example, show best practices, and build camaraderie throughout the employees in the division.
The incumbent will be a positive role model who promotes open communication within their team.
Although one person serving as T-M is optimal, special circumstances or limitations may require two people to fulfill these responsibilities.
They will also be accountable for ensuring safe delivery of quality rock products, ready mix concrete, and/or asphalt.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions) Responsible for “road testing” potential new drivers.
Responsible for the initial orientation and training of new drivers.
Able to inspect, analyze and diagnose malfunctions in trucking equipment.
Able to accurately record training documentation.
Must have a good knowledge of DOT regulations.
Must be willing to work with PL teams to develop training procedures.
Mentor/Trainer will conduct Safety Meetings on interval specified by management.
Must be able to communicate company safety and production standards to all drivers.
Must provide feedback in a way that promotes productivity and positive morale.
Must be able to work flexible schedules.
Will work with management on maintaining a training schedule.
Will drive trucks when other training duties are complete or not needed.
Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.

Education and/or Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; Mentor/Trainer must have a minimum of 3 years driving experience within the industry.

Language Skills Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence.
Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions Computer Skills Basic computer skills required.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Valid Class “A or B” CDL as per DOT requirements.
Transportation Mentor/Trainer will hold a doubles endorsement.
Current Medical Card.
