JOB TITLE: Instructional Coach (Elementary and Secondary)REPORTS TO: Building Administrator; SuperintendentJOB SUMMARY: To provide coordination and facilitation of staff development, training, and on-going support for teachers with the goal of developing classroom instructional excellence and improving student success.
QUALIFICATIONS: A Masters degree from an accredited college or university; a current Idaho Teaching Certification; master teacher with extensive training and successful experience in instruction.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Research and provide content knowledge, resources, and materials to staff about learning and teaching including: teaching strategies; assessments; interpretation and application of data.
Research and provide information and guidance regarding a range of effective and innovative instructional practices through various activities such as individual discussions; coaching sessions; lesson demonstrations; study groups; staff meetings; and professional development opportunities.
Guide teachers to collect and analyze data and develop action plans in response to determined student needs.
Plan meeting calendars and facilitate meetings.
Work with building administration and other staff to create student achievement and instructional practice goals.
Participate fully in professional development opportunity and professional research and reading.
Assist with mentoring and supporting new staff members.
Collaborate with staff on the analysis of instructional practice and student achievement.
Knowledgeable about current research on effective instructional practice and student progress.
Assist teachers in the curriculum design and implementation process of the Idaho Standards.
Assist administration and staff in the curriculum adoption process.
Attend staff meetings; participate in Professional Learning Communities; and serve on staff committees to plan instructional goals, objectives, and methods; assist in the selection of instructional equipment and materials.
Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities and be responsible for the knowledge of school evacuation procedures and lock-down procedures and the ability to implement those procedures independently in emergency situations.
Communicate with staff, parents, district personnel and others in a positive and encouraging manner.
Know and follows school policy and the chain of command.
Act ethically and confidentially in all aspects of employment.
Perform such district-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: The employment period shall be for 190 days as indicated by the school calendar.
This position is classified as NON-EXEMPT under the Administrative and Professional overtime under the Fair Labor and Standards Act.
