*Job Summary:* _Brundage Mountain Patrol is made up of a dedicated group that makes riding at Brundage a safe, fun, and exciting experience for our guests.
We are a group committed to learning and using emergency care skills as we enjoy skiing, snowboarding and other recreational activities.
_ _As the Assistant Patrol Director, you will be a leader supporting the Patrol Director and the patrol supervisory team in overseeing the daily operations and management of the winter patrol team.
This individual will assist in ensuring the safety and well-being of guests and staff by providing emergency medical services, maintaining a safe environment, and enforcing resort policies.
In addition to patroller responsibilities, the Assistant Patrol Director will also be responsible for training and supervising patrollers, coordinating a variety of rescue operations, and assisting with administrative tasks as required.
_ *Essential Duties/Responsibilities*: * Assist the Ski Patrol Director in managing and coordinating all aspects of the winter patrol team.
* Oversee and assist patrol supervisory team.
* Provide emergency medical care and first aid to injured guests and staff, following established protocols and procedures.
* Assist in the development and implementation of training programs for patrollers, including emergency medical response, avalanche safety, and rescue techniques.
* Assist in the coordination of rescue operations, including search and rescue efforts, avalanche control, lift evacuation procedures, rope rescue activities, company emergency response plans, etc.
* Assist with recruiting, retention, onboarding, and employee services related tasks.
* Assist the patrol director in creating and managing the patrol budget for accuracy and fiscal responsibility.
* Supervise and coordinate patrollers during daily operations, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and providing guidance as needed.
* Provide supervision and training to all Patrollers and motivate them to achieve the next professional level in their Patrol status (Level 1-Level 3).
* Notify Patrol Director of any performance, behavior, or insubordination issues.
Possess the ability to address and document individual and team successes and opportunities.
Desire to coach individuals through opportunities and develop remediation plans for follow through.
* Collaborate with other departments, such as mountain operations and guest services, to ensure effective communication and coordination during emergency situations.
* Work integrally with various departments to accomplish company and department goals.
* Perform, direct, and ensure quality execution of all tasks or duties related to patrol department operations.
* Provide direction and supervision of the accident investigation process.
* Communicate with loss control agent as necessary for potential claims and loss exposure mitigation.
* Responsible for all incident record keeping and trend analysis.
* Assist with administrative tasks, such as maintaining incident reports, updating patrol logs, and managing inventory of medical supplies and equipment.
* Participate in regular staff meetings, training sessions, and drills to foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
* Participate in and thoroughly prepare for resort compliance with all applicable insurance, USFS, OSHA, and ATF inspections and operating permits.
* Participate in daily and weekly operational meetings.
* Stay updated on industry best practices, safety standards, and medical advancements relevant to patrol operations.
* Foster a positive and professional work environment, promoting teamwork, respect, and effective communication among patrol team members and Brundage staff.
* Willingness to work in and with other departments as needed for successful resort operations.
*Job Qualifications*: * Minimum of 3 years of experience as a patroller or supervisory experience in a related emergency medical services field or relevant industry.
* Current certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or higher and ability to obtain ID EMS license.
Current BLS CPR certification.
* Completion of avalanche course – Recreational Level 1 (minimum).
Will be required to complete Avalanche Pro 1 course within agreed upon timeframe.
* Basic understanding of snow physics * Trained for and able to train in specialized rescues, such as ascenders, high angle, low angle, difficult extrications and transports.
* Strong skiing/snowboarding skills and experience in mountain rescue operations.
* Must be in very good physical condition and able to work outdoors under extreme weather conditions for extended periods of time.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with guests, staff, and external agencies.
* Demonstrated leadership abilities, with experience in supervising and training patrol personnel or related management experience.
* Knowledge of ski resort operations, safety procedures, and mountain terrain.
* Ability to remain calm, reason and make sound decisions in high-pressure situations.
* Must have excellent guest service and interpersonal skills.
* Effective and efficient organizational skills – time management, prioritization, etc.
* Proficient computer skills and using computer software for documentation, budgeting, and reporting purposes.

* A willingness to work irregular hours, including weekends, holidays, and night shifts, as dictated by operational needs.
*Requirements:* * Must be at least 21 years of age upon employment.
* Must pass a criminal history, background check, and fingerprinting with the ability to qualify for ATF Possessor and Responsible Party credentialling, and an acceptable personal history as determined by Brundage management.
* Must have a valid Driver’s License and pass an insurance driving history inquiry.
* Ability to lift, maneuver, carry 50 lbs.
on a regular basis to waist height.
* Good visual acuity including depth perception, variable light conditions, and peripheral vision.
Corrective devices such as glasses or contacts are acceptable.
* Ability to hear, speak, and understand spoken instructions, communicate effectively with others directly and through radio/phone.
Ability to use hearing protection devices in loud environments.
* Must be able to use manual dexterity to operate equipment.
*Other Commitments/Requirements:* * Must commit to an annual schedule including weekends and holiday’s.
* Arrive prior to the morning meeting to perform preparation tasks.
Patrol sweeps are generally off the mountain by about 5:00 pm (Winter).
Patrollers are dismissed when all guests, patrollers, and employees are down, and the mountain is called clear.
Must be flexible to accommodate for a delayed closing and early up for snow safety work.
