*Lead Staff Member*
*Corpus Christi House*
Corpus Christi House (CCH) is seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and well-organized individual to coordinate the day-to-day activities of the only daytime homeless shelter in Boise, ID.
*About Us* Corpus Christi House is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to easing the burden of being homeless by providing hospitality and basic services to the Treasure Valley’s homeless community.
We are a group of local citizens inspired by the belief that all people deserve dignity, acceptance, and the basic needs of life.
The types of hospitality provided include mentorship, clothing, shelter, restrooms, showers, laundry, telephone, mail, technology usage, and meals.
We are the entry point for Boise's unhoused or financially struggling population.
We strive to guide them towards the resources available.
*Primary Tasks* * Build relationships with guests.
_The more our guests know that you care about them, and they can trust you, the better that CCH runs.
This is the key to all we do.
_ * Build relationships with volunteers that work during your shifts.
* Attend to some of the various requests and needs of our guests throughout the day: *Look-up referral information for guests* * Distribute bus passes * First aid supplies and OTC medications * Help getting clothing and hygiene items * Call Emergency Services as needed for guest health emergencies (physical and emotional health) * Help maintain “Daily Log” on Google Docs, so all staff know the latest happenings.
Check the Daily Log for shifts you were not working * Help monitor and manage guest behavior.
Enforcing shelter policies and rules * Helping deescalate tense situations * Asking guests to leave the facility, when required * This will at times include calling police for assistance in removing someone from shelter, or in cases of emergencies.
* Help support in various cleaning tasks throughout the day (spot check in bathrooms, spills, and messes on patio, taking out trash, monitoring the front of building, etc.
) * Support volunteers in the kitchen, laundry area, clothing room and mailroom as needed * Refer guests to the Director for legal assistance * Open the facility to guests daily and help establish a clear consistent process to receive services * Shut down facility at the end of the day: get all guests out of the building; ensure items are picked up and cleaning begins; help clear any items left behind by guests *MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS* Basic understanding of homelessness and various characteristics of homeless adult populations; experience with mental illness and/or chemical dependency preferred.
* Minimum one year experience in education, counseling, or behavioral management * Ability to communicate and work effectively with staff from various backgrounds and disciplines.
* Ability to work effectively with guests displaying a wide range of unpleasant and/or bizarre behavior.
* Subscribe to philosophy of cooperation and continuity across programs, and of consideration and respect for guests.
* Basic knowledge of computer programs i.
e.
, spreadsheets, documents, email, etc.
* Possess a basic understanding of non-profit organizations *PHYSICAL DEMANDS* The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to sit, communicate with other employees, required to lift, and carry items weighing up to 40 pounds and to operate computer hardware systems.
